Keepin my eye on this thread.
I'm sure I will be adding on to my cat stairs sometime and like looking at ideas.

Not a great picture- too far away, but the cats love to run up and down the stairs and sleep up on the perch

I know you say you want to make one, but if you ever consider buying one instead, I can comment on that one you posted there. That looks like an Armarkat. I just purchased a very similar one for my cats earlier this year and I (and they) absolutely love it. It's a very sturdy tree with a lot of great multi-level platforms and boxes. They spend so much time sleeping on and climbing all over that thing. I was able to get it on sale, but it still goes for a surprisingly good price considering how huge it is (over 6' at least).

What type of materials did you use for that?

My only worry would be that my dog would try to climb them... lol.
