Default Terrible cat names...

Holly (October) posted a thing on Facebook about a cat called "Flufferpants"...

Pretty much the worst name I've ever seen for a cat.

I can tolerate names that describe colour (to a point, calling a b&w cat Tux, or a black cat Blackie is just lazy ), and I always like human names, but Flufferpants? I hope the poor cat gets it's revenge.

Thank goodness you didn't say Blacky! Whew! Joking aside, in defence of the name, of the few Blackie names I've seen on this forum at least one or two besides mine (aka, probably all the cats I've seen with this name) originated from a stray cat. When you're feeding or simply talking about "that black cat" I found it can easily morph to "Blackie" or variations on referencing its color, since it isn't really your cat to name.

Flufferpants though, at least its unique? I'm sure there's a story behind that one, and they hopefully have a shortened version of its name that's less... odd. Fluffy, or something.

Hugh, did you notice that the cat's full name is Thomas O'Malley Flufferpants? Maybe that makes it more palatable to you.

Personally, the names I can't stand are the negative connotation ones like Chaos, Trouble, or something along those lines. It says much more about the owner than the cat.

Thomas O'Malley is a great name, but they ruined it.

Two of the worst cat names I've ever heard have belonged to my own cats. The first is Pookie, that happened because my then boyfriend and I couldn't agree on a name. Pookie was a nickname that she quickly started answering to. Her name on vet records is Tie Dye, still bad because it doesn't roll off the tongue at all.

The second is Grey, and it happened just like Carmel said. A stray grey cat was hanging around and we called it Mr. Grey Pants, with no intention of taking it in. Then it showed up wounded, we brought it in, found out it was Miss Grey Pants, which got shortened to Grey.

Oh, and the video! Cute! Muffin does exactly that to my sheltie and my sheltie looks exactly that thrilled!

One of the most beautiful cat videos I've seen, thank you for sharing October! The beige hues give the scene an even more affectionate tone. Sigh, sigh, sigh.

Awww....I'm really hoping that we get to the point where Kobi and Holly will do that to Jake.
