Is this how cats know you're awake?

Yes, it's based on very little. I was just waking up so my memory of what I thought/was thinking is slight. I just threw it out for discussion. I had thought of contacting a sleep lab to see if they had any information about the behaviour of people as they wake. Missy does sniff my eyes at times, however, tonight I just had to lie down for a quick nap; Missy was fast (?) asleep in the front room, but as soon as had I stretched out on my back she was on the bed and sitting on me. Someone mentioned squeaky bedsprings.

I always wondered how they know too. My Siamese, Quincy always seems to know the moment I wake up and comes close looking for pets. He doesn't seem to want me to get up. He is just content to curl up close for cuddles.
