No clue. Is this a city/municipal requirement? Probably a way to get tax revenue. Where I live (Indiana) only dog licenses are required. I do, however, have tags to show my cats were vaccinated for rabies.

Missy cat doesn't go out, so someone would have to turn me in to get me to pay a license. Those of you who live in license areas. What's the rule if you're feeding a stray cat?

I do not know all the technicalities of pet licenses. I've adopted two cats from the SPCA and neither required me to have one.
However I am a licensed wildlife controller and I'm familiar with our state laws regarding animals. In Rhode Island, animal control can request your pet license at any time, and if you don't have it, they have the legal right to take your pet. While I've never heard of this happening to yoru average nice lady next door, I can imagine that if animal control deals with the same cat/dog on a repeated basis, they are going to ask for the license. |
