Animal Haters....

The children v. pets thing drives me out of my mind. I don't have human children and have never wanted any. I think they're cute for about 20 minutes and then I want them to go back to their mom or dad. To some people, that's weird but acceptable. But then they find out that I have two cats that I spoil to death, and suddenly it's not acceptable that I don't have children

I cant agree with this statement more... Kids are fine until they start being bratty, screaming, and or mauling an animal of any kind then I just want to put them in a cage... Screw bringing them back to their parents... hahaha Im sure kids of my own would be different but even still... My cats will NEVER be mauled or I will scream. haha My cats take precedence over my husband most of the time... they were here first after all My cats are the ones that keep me sane I tell him... you do the opposite

I don't hate kids (folk just cannot accept that fact) - I was just born without a broody gene.....well broody for a naked baby, I love my furry ones

Having been bred specifically to take care of my parents in their old age,
I personally feel this is a pretty selfish reason to have a child. Oh, I did
my duty and saw both parents loved and cared for until they passed on,
but I have no wish to reproduce for that or any other reason. I just do
not like kids. I'm not comfortable around kids, so why would I want to be
responsible for one 24/7 for some 18-21 years? My mother warned me
repeatedly that I would die "old, alone, and lonely," without a child in my
life, to which I would reply that was impossible so long as there was a cat
or a horse in the world.

To others who feel it's abnormal not to want a baby, I tell them I prefer
"children" I can lock in a crate or a stall and walk away from. This
seems to shock the 'Baby Yay!" community into agreeing I shouldn't have
children myself.

Personally, I think you can have as many animals as you can afford and responsibly take care of!

I also don't have that 'motherly quality' that gives me the desire to have kids. I like other people' kids,but don't want any of my own. Fortunately my husband is in the same boat as I am. We welcome out nieces/nephews that come for visits,but don't want that responsibility of our own kids.

Another one of my annoyances is people who get animals for the kids,but they really don't like them. When the kids move out of the house and don't want the pets they are usually given away.

I don't think I could deal with people who hated animals. I used to have a neighbor who did hate animals. She even complained to the owners here about the ferals who wandered around the area and they should get rid of them. Even before I heard about this, I didn't like this woman and I guess I was right about her, she was a very mean person.

I would much rather be around animals than some human beings, that's for sure.

I've never been able to understand how anyone can not like cats----especially to hate them! And there are people out there who truly have an aversion to cats. Why is that?!? Is it because cats are so clever and independently-minded that some people misread their need for personal space (which we humans also need) as standoffish and/or anti-social behavior? I guess some people simply don't understand these amazing animals. It's a longstanding myth that cats are anti-social, whereas in reality they are extremely social animals. My cat needs lots of attention and affection----If I don't pay her enough attention, she'll get right in my face to distract me from whatever I'm doing. lol
I don't understand how a person can hate animals----especially cats. Personally, I don't have a natural affinity for dogs, but that doesn't make me dislike them in any way. But some people truly hate cats, and will throw things at them to make them go away, and/or handle them in a rough, abusive way. Such people baffle me.

I have a cat and a dog and my dad thinks that's already too much. :/ I'm like, "Dad, many people have two or more pets." He just rolls his eyes in response, with no excuse. Dad hates all animals excempt like, sharks and those "cool predators". (He is not keen on cats, tolerant of dogs)
