Finally talked my fiancé into letting me add to our family. We have two male cats already and looking to bring in a new one. My question is for everyone which would be better...another male or adding a female into the mix?

The sex of the cat is less important than the new cat's temperament. So, I'd try to find a cat that (a) gets along well with other cats (you can ask the rescue/shelter or whomever you're adopting from), and (b) has a similar temperament to your current two. So, if your current two are active, then choose another active cat. If your current two are quiet and shy, choose another shy/quiet cat.

^^ This.
And I'd choose a younger/smaller cat, who won't be viewed as a threat, and introductions seem to go easier.

I would adopt to a rescue that fosters in their homes. We who do that know the cats personalities and can help you find a good fit to your current household. I think Susan is right. Its not so much the sex its the temperament.
This is exciting. I'm looking forward to see who your new family member is going to be!

Thanks for the help guys. I fell in love with yes another poly (what are the odds) and she cuddled up right on me as soon as I picked her up. Now the hard decision is picking one because I want them all lol. Next week or very very soon we should have our new family member.
