Default Neutered male still has his............

My neutered male cat still has is testicle skin/sac, but you can tell that they are empty. Is that common or do they normally cut it all off?

You can still tell he is a boy from behind.

I have to admit that this is something I'm curious about, but a little embarrassed to ask.

Default Curious

I'm kinda curious myself. Snowball is the first male cat for my husband and I. He was already neutered when we got him. Anyway, he likes to walk across my chest while I'm sleeping. I tell him, "How about I step on your 'friends' and see how you like it?" My husband says, "He doesn't have any." Then he told me from his understanding they cut them completely off. I thought it'd be the same as men. They snip the tubes or whatever so they can't make babies, but still have their 'friends'.

Can someone clear this up for us? Thanks!

Hiya....When they neuter them they take out the testicles but leave the sac. Eventually the sac will shrink and you will hardly be able to see it.

I second that. It shrinks. When we lost our Baby, he was like 18yrs old. His was very tiny (ya had to look for it). Our new kitty is close to 2. We got him neutered in March when we found him and his is small too now

Jinx is 2 1/2, he was neutered over 2 years ago; from behind, they still look like they are there. If you're closer, you can see it's just skin, but from a distance, he looks "intact". He is the first male I've seen like this, the other's I've had have pretty much had it all removed. I guess it depends on the vet.

My boys still look like theirs are still there. Castration involves making an incision in each scotal sac, removing the while testicle via that 'slit' and thats it.

Perhaps it's very individual for kitties how the skin shrinks, or what you should call it. Just like with us people. For example, if someone loses 100 pounds, their skin might become saggy and stuff. Some people never have that problem. Just my thoughts, don't quote me on them..
