An M has appeared on my cat's forehead

What does the "M" stand for on my cat's forehead?
Marvelous ?
Mad?
Mischievous?

They say that 666 is the sign of Lucifer, have you had any signs on your cat?

An "M" is quite common on cats. My siamese-mix has a very faint "M" on her forehead too. There are legends about how the cat recieved it's "M", one had to do with a cat keeping baby Jesus warm on a cold night. So Mary marked it with her initial. etc, etc.

It's cute to me, so enjoy it.

Lots of legends about this!

The Prophet Mohammed had a tabby cat which fell asleep on the sleeve of his robe. Rather than disturb the cat, he cut off his sleeve when he answered the muezzin (call to prayer). This cat once warned Mohammed of danger and to this day tabby cats have the 'M' mark on the foreheads in remembrance of his blessing and three dark lines on their backs where he stroked his cat.

The Egyptians believed the 'M' to depict the sacred Scarab beetle while in Christian folklore it is the mark of the Virgin Mary who blessed a cat which killed a venomous snake sent by the Devil to bite the Christ child in his crib. In a related version from Christian folklore, the infant Jesus was laying in the mangershivering from cold. Alerted by his cries, a mother tabby cat lay next to the child to warm him up. In gratitude, Mary stroked the cats forehead, marking it with an 'M' and to this day, the caring mother cat's descendents all carry the mark of Mary.

The non-religious version suggests that the 'M' is a set of frown-lines where the cat has been staring at a mouse-hole in concentration, waiting for the mouse emerge!

I think it is a sign of Tabby cat. All my cats have had "M" on their forheads. I was once told, if they had the M, they were a true tabbey, this is when I was a little naive about cats. Although, so far, that has held true in all TabbIes I have seen. Your kitty, does't look like a tabby, but, unless a pure bread than I don't know, she must have some in her.

That is my take....... Probably all fictional, but what I learned.

That's what I've always understood as well - the "M" is something that tabbies get.
I think it stands for MAGNIFI-CAT though!!!

Yup, having an M is a typical marking, especially those with tabby history. Mozart, Ginza and Kayla have a prominent M. I can't see it on Pixie, her forehead's all black.

marhs's doesn't have an M, but you can sort of see how his fur may outline that same shape
