Default How do I keep Oliver from eating fake plants?

Okay so me and my cat, Oliver moved yesterday. Over a 14 hour car ride!! (I'll post about that later....) Anyways, we live at my bf's house, who has a lot of fake plants. Bad news - Oliver is chewing the HECK out of them. How do I keep him from doing this? We went to PetSmart and got some spray that is suppose to keep him from chewing them so we sprayed the plants but haven't let Oliver come out of the room he has been shut in now. If this spray doesn't work, I'll need to try something else. I don't want him swallowing fake stuff and I don't want him ruin my bf's house. Any suggestions?

Did he chew on real plants at your place? If so, I'd think he's just missing having some yummy houseplants to eat. If not, I think he's just being a pest

Hopefully the spray will work... what kind is it?

Maybe Oliver is one of those cats that likes to chew on plastic, like my Mellie. I've found the deterrent spray is only effective as long as it's damp. Maybe you'll have more luck. The only thing that works for me is to keep anything plastic and chewable out of her reach.

Maybe you can get some cat-safe/vet aprooved plants for Oliver to chew on? Where did you get the spray from? What kind of spray is it? I'll do some research for you.

It's basically lemon juice we found out. They charged us for lemon juice! Anyways, I think it kinda worked....he's out and about roaming around his new house right now.

I guess they don't like the smell. I think cats hate pretty much anything with citrus in it. I've heard of using lemon juice but at the time I bought this, didn't know that's what it was. But after smelling it, it is definently lemon juice.

Catlover, the other cats don't live with Heather, they are her parent's cats.

Maybe you should grow him some grass. Cats love grass. If he had something edible to chew on, maybe it would stop him from chewing on the fake ones. Does he chew on other plastic things or just those plants?
Can you use Bitter Apple spray for cats? I think you can. Maybe try that.
