Default Are tuxedo cats lucky/unlucky???

I rescued a tuxedo kitten. She is beautiful. However, I have some reservations about keeping her.

In Taiwanese culture, tuxedo cats are rumored to bring DEATH to the owner. I had not been feeling so well lately. I know it has NOTHING to do with the sweet tuxedo kitten but I am concerned others might think otherwise.

How do you guys feel about tuxedo cats??? Do you think they are lucky/unlucky???

I know Bill Clinton had a cat that looks exactly like my kitten. Was Bill Clinton a lucky man??? After all, he did get embrassed in front of people across the world for his affairs.

In many other cultures, the black cat is said to bring bad luck and even death. However, as you can see from my sig, I have an affinity for black kitties (see my Binx below) and so do many other members of this forum. I know a lot of members also have soft-spots for Tuxedo kitties. I think they are beautiful. I don't believe any superstitions about cats. I do, however, believe that cats and other animals (no matter what colour) bring good chi into the home and increase happiness.

Luck or bad luck are superstitions, as I'm sure you know. Tuxedo cats are beautiful animals. Do you really believe that God or Mother Nature would give life or take it according to the markings of their cat? I'm sure you don't, regardless of what your ancestors believed.

there are lots of superstitions involving cats, but I wouldn't worry. To quote "wikipedia" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superstition): "By its definition superstition is not based on reason. Many superstitions can be prompted by misunderstandings of causality or statistics. Others spring from unenlightened fears..."

Here is a link that mentions some of the references to cats in folklore and superstition: http://www.xmission.com/~emailbox/folklore.htm

But it is worth noting that ALL of my cats make me feel lucky.

I'd have to say Tuxedos are pretty lucky. I was lucky to find one of the monst wonderful cats the day I found Otis, and twice as lucky the day Jasmine chose me to be her mom

Daizy has brought tons of luck to me, though she's an attention diva herself! She is the most loving cat and sweet (when she wants to be) and i don't think anything really bad has happened since I got her. (Knock on wood). Course though I love all cats but I prefer black and white or greys! then again orange tabby's are cute.........oh i just love them all!

This is about as preposterous as a cat causing bad luck. Richard Nixon had a cocker spaniel named Checkers -- I suppose all people who own cockers are thieves.
