Hi all, i am in need of some help, and i figured this would be a good place to ask for it. So a bit of back story here, the cat im getting is actually my old cat...my wife and i split up 2 years ago, and split the cats up, we had 2, sqeakums and Meow. Sqeakms went with me and Meow went with her. At the time when we were splinting up Meow was peeing in our laundry hamper (usually only fresh laundry) But sometimes any Laundry, he would burrow in and pee.....really stunk. After Sqeakums and i moved out, we adopted a play mate for him from the pound, his name is Koo. Koo and Sqeakums get along great, have a great cat life and i love them to peaces!!!. Recently my ex asked me to take Meow because she cant keep him anymore. I should also note Meow was our/my first cat and he turned me into crazy cat lover.
So with the above info, i was hoping to get some advice on what to do if Meow starts peeing on stuff, if he bullys my other cats and if he does start peeing on laundry will my other cats? I'm ordering a 2nd Litterbot so we will have 2 litter boxes in a 4 bedroom house, also getting a 2nd cat tower so theres room for all. I'm very worried im going to take him in and it wont work out beaue hes peeing on stuff and being a bully, and i'll be forced to find him another home. |

Hi Sassyp: Well, first things first. You can't solve problems in advance of them happening, since until they happen you won't be able to isolate the cause of the problem. So, as for inappropriate peeing, you should wait to see if that, in fact, happens. To avoid any future bullying behavior, you should make sure that Meow is placed in a safe room when he arrives and do a slow introduction of all three cats. See the following link, which was earlier recommended to another poster. http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.ph...tintroductions This article also provides a link to another article about setting up a safe room.
Even if Meow starts peeing on laundry, it's not likely that your other cats will follow suit. So, I wouldn't worry about that. As for litter boxes, if possible, the preferable approach is to have one litter box per cat plus one extra. So, for 3 cats, you should have 4 litter boxes, as opposed to 2. Doing so will also avoid/reduce potential litter box issues.
