Default Cats doing tricks

Can any of your cats perform tricks on cue like the ones in this video? I never knew cats could be trained to be on stage like that. I also read that these cats were once strays and now are show cats showing their talents! I just hope they get treated right unlike many other animal performers we hear about.

Talented kitties & dog)!!

My flatmate and I spent several hours one night trying to convince Pumpkin to jump through a hoola hoop (we'd been drinking if that explains anything...)!!

But I'm a bit sceptic about how these animals are trainned to do the tricks.

I think I've seen him on Animal Planet before (Cats 101 perhaps?) Anyways, it was showing how he picks his cats out from a local shelter, and that it takes years for a cat to be ready for the stage.

Both my cats will "sit" on command and "stand up" on their hind legs---mind you they know they are going to get treats! That's the extent of their repertoire so far. Cats that are very food oriented are easier to train than a picky eater.

In the YouTube video, did you notice each cat, except for the gray longhair with beige ruffle on its neck, only did one "trick"? That's often the case in this kind of cat circus, it's not as common to see a cat do multiple tricks like you would a dog, but some do. Here's one that does quite a few:

Here is Helen, owner of Max-Arthur and a pit bull terrier called Sharky. (:
I adore them - she is patient and her critter friends are very smart and well-socialized.

Max-Arthur does tricks.

the whole channel is really worth checking out.

I don't have the kind of patience to teach my kitties any tricks. lol
