Does this happen to anyone else?
Artie loves to lie on top of me when I watch TV, at night. After kneading, he settles down and I always end up with his butt heading towards my face! Even when he curls up, his head is facing my feet. and he is purring! He does this when I am in bed also. His back is to me and I usually end up petting his bum! and he follows me everywhere I go for about 80-90% of the day... Have had him since March and he is and adult 8 yr old neutered male. and my love ![]()

LOL...that happens to me all the time too. Abby hops up onto my lap and kneads. She then settles down and I always end up looking at something I really don't want to be looking at! Plus, I end up with a tail in my face. The conversation goes as follows:
Susan: Would you please get that tail out of my face Abby: Lifts tail up high Susan: Yuck...I don't want to look at that! Abby: Mew Susan: Wipes tail fur out of mouth and looks in opposite direction...

Hahaha, too funny. This happens to me constantly. Anna loves to lay on my legs when I have them stretched out and she always have her but towards me. Everynight sasha sleeps curled up beside my head and every night her butt is beside my face and I wake up several times with a fluffy ragdoll tail in my mouth. Blurgh! |

This is so funny. It reminds me of something a comedian said: "How is it that cats are 1' tall, but their ass is always at eye level?"
My theory with Murphy is that he wants to either avoid eye contact or he wants to be in a position that he can see out the bedroom door. I've noticed that no matter where we are, he wants to sit within sight of the hallway or door . . . no doubt to ward off attack from the evil predators that might be coming. Also, when I sit down next to him I make sure not to block his sight of the hallway or door, and he tends to stay there longer that way.

That is kind of what I thought....Artie seems to be extremely comfortable with this position....but~~~I want the "other" end!
I am sooo selfish! Seriously, I am blessed to have him feel so comfortable here...First night home, I let him have an open territory to explore, (did not bother him at all). He jumped on my lap, kneaded, purred and has not stopped since March...I have had such a tuff year, and so has he~ kind of feels like we were supposed to be together... I really do not feel like he is almost a senior, at 8.5 yrs....he does act like he is slowing down..just seems 'mature" for his age, lol! |

Yep, Celia does that too. I sit sideways on the couch, she stretches full body length between my legs, with her butt towards me. She loves to have her butt and tail scratched, so the minute my hand reaches her butt, it goes waaaay up in the air. So I always thought maybe this was why she preferred turning her butt to me. She used to lie on my chest occasionally when I was in bed, with her face towards me. But now I always get the butt.

the book notes that when 2 strange cats meet, it's a good sign when they first touch noses and then turn around to show the other one his/her butt. if they don't, it might be because they don't trust the other cat yet. |
