Jealousy between cats and sighing

Ok, so my boys are 13 and they have always been together.

They were litter-mates and have pretty much slept together and groomed each other every day of their lives.

However, Orion, my favourite, WILL NOT purr when Castor is anywhere near him. Castor on the other hand doesn't seem to care.

Orion has always been my cat, even back when I was growing up and living with my parents and sisters. He would always come to me for cuddles and to sleep.

Castor has been more of a family cat; he wants attention from everyone.

Orion also suckles on my shirt, so I have always assumed he sees me as a surrogate mother, explaining his jealousy.

If he's purring when cuddling me and realises Castor is around, he will instantly stop purring, and, I swear I'm not making this up, SIGH! Like a proper throaty vibration of disapproval and annoyance. The best I can describe the sound as would be like Marge Simpson's trademark sigh.

Now, being a Siamese, he's an extremely vocal cat to begin with, but I've never heard of anyone else's Siamese, or other breed of cat, sigh like that.

Castor is more than happy to purr with Orion right next to him, so I'm just wondering if anyone else's cat is so disapproving of his litter-mate and buddy being around when he purrs.

My girl Alkee, who is very bonded to me, doesn't sigh, but she will stop purring if Zuba, her half-brother comes near. On the other hand Zuba doesn't stop purring if Alkee comes near.

I figured other cats did the same. It's rather cute actually. They feel we belong to them and other cats are trespassing :-D

Cal will sometimes shoot me a dirty look if I stop petting him to scoop up Coda and love on her. Then when I put her down he'll glare at her until I start petting him again, at which point he looks very pleased with himself, as if he feels like he won in the end. lol

Oh yeah, Both Fay and Mia sigh.

The last time people tried to elimate free roaming cats it resulted in The Black Plague.

Cody sighs when he curls up next to me after a kneading session. I read somewhere that sighing in cats might be an expression of great contentment
