In my case, the bird feeders aren't even on the balcony, they're both in my (small) backyard. One is about 4-5 feet from the balcony on a pole feeder, and the other is about 10 feet from the balcony hanging from a pole that comes off a fence bordering my yard. Unfortunately this distance does not stop birds from alighting on my balcony, and it does not stop the problem species (Pine siskins) from being so tame. The problem is *only* the Pine siskins; if it weren't for them I'd have very little problem at all.
