I have had a mother cat for a few months. It was warm when she first became part of my household. She went out during the day. Now it is 40 in the morning and up to 60 in the afternoon. She sleeps most of the day and night. Is this normal?

Does she live primarily inside or outside?
I read somewhere that some cats will sleep up to 17 hours a day. My roommate's ex girlfriend's cat would sleep up to 17 hours a day. My cats sleep close to 12. I would say that if she is sleeping only/all the time when she is inside, there may be something outside that makes her feel she needs to keep her guard up. I wouldn't worry too much, unless her eating habits change or her demeanor changes. Cats love their sleep. I would love to be a cat!

Well she didn't eat breakfast yesterday so I made a vet appt for today. Last night I cooked chicken and she drank a nice saucer full of broth. This morning she ate all her food, got chased by the other cat, and now asleep again. I guess she is ok. her eyes look better today. Just not used to all this sleeping.
