My friend's kitten, who according to the vet, is about 7 months old, has the habit of sucking on her back foot toe when you pet her and she purrs. I think it's a comfort thing, or maybe she was taken away from her mother when she was too young (she was a rescue, so her background is a mystery).
I'll try to post a video later, but has anyone else had a cat that does this, and do you think it is a lasting habit? The only reason I'm concerned is because it's really noisy and she will do it at night, and my friend has started locking her out of her room because it keeps her up. Wow, this is a strange one! I had a cat that had a female kitten that we decided to keep. She was trying to nurse until she was 7 months old. By then she was full grown and it kind of creeped us out (it was like seeing a 5 year old child nurse) so we would squirt bottle her when she was doing it. She stopped within a couple weeks. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to try and break this habit, but then I'm not a cat psychologist.
