I wanted to know how many people allow their cats up the counters? Mine are allowed up even though they don't get on them that often. I don't let them get on the counter right near the stove because I don't want them to start getting on the stove. Other than that, I don't care where they go. That's what they make wipes and other cleaning supplies for IMO.

To say we allow our cats or not is something we have no control over once we are in bed. No I do not want my cat on the kitchen counters but I am not watching her 24 hours a day. If I ever caught her up there I would shoosh her off but of course if I don't see her doing it, thats the end of that.
Each morning before making coffee and getting breakfast, I do sponge down the counters just in case she was up there during the night. But no, I rather she didn't go up there.

Mine go where ever they want most of the time. They dont get on the counters that often. The only time they arnt allowed is when Im cooking or cutting meats. Even then sometimes Godzilla INSISTS on sitting and supervising me cutting chicken on the counter.

We try to keep them off the counters, but they love going up there (especially right after they come out of the litter box..). Drives me crazy, but once we leave the house or go to bed, we really don't have any control

Our counters are usually pretty crowded and disorganized, which seems to deter Moxie from going up there. If she sees a space she'll try, but she quickly gets down.
We also have an island counter in the center of the kitchen which is where I prepare cat and human food. Moxie also gets fed up there because she feels safe from my other cat. I really don't mind it - when I'm cooking I enjoy the company, and she never tries to eat anything I'm trying to prepare unless it's her food (or cheese or bacon They also both enjoy lounging on the kitchen table, which is sounded by large windows with a view of the backyard. |

My cats spend time outside the house and then lie on the kitchen counter. So do the food bags I bring from the supermarket and any bottles, jars, cans, bags I buy. I bet my cats' paws are cleaner than my purchases.
