Default My Cat + Nice Cat = ???

I have a cat that's almost 1 year old [Rivers]. I have had this other cat for about 3 weeks and she's about 7 weeks old[Marshmellow]. She's in the backyard for now because she's sick and I don't want Rivers to get sick too. Every time I'm watching tv, Marshmellow come up to the sliding door and just sits there asking for company [I always cave in...Shes so cute!]. Lately, I see that Rivers meets Marshmellow at the glass and starts lunging on the glass door. I don't know if she's trying to play with Marshmellow or attack her. We will soon get Marshmellow vaccinated so she can come inside and I don't want Rivers to give her a hard time. I don't know if she's going to attack Marshmellow when she comes inside or if she's going to get along with her and just relax about not being the only cat in the house anymore. I'm just afraid that when Marshmellow comes in, she might get hurt if I'm not watching her. How can I make sure that Rivers won't harm Marshmellow when she comes in?

The best advice is to do an organized introduction of the cats. Here is a link with a good plan:

Thanks, Jessamica8. This will really help a lot. Almost every time I go outside to spend time with Marshmellow, Rivers comes to the glass door and watches. When I get back inside, I let her smell the scent of Marshmellow on my hands so she gets a little more used to it. 2 days ago Marshmellow rushed indie when I opened the door and Rivers sniffed her really quick then started hissing. I'm not really sure that Marshmellow cared at all. She just kept going with her business , not paying any attention to Rivers. Then, of course, I had to take her outside because she's still sick. I at least know that she's not afraid.

welcome on board!! I'm going through the introduction process, I really hope that things will get better. My 2 kittens get along fine but my older is too strong and big (5 months) compared to new kitty (10 weeks) and when he plays with new kitty, it really scares me because she cries out... Good luck

Thanks. I know exactly what that's like... I'm also scared that Rivers might be playing, but she might actually be hurting Marshmellow. ><;;
