I have three cats in my house. And two of them a 2 year old male and a 7 month old female have been pooping in my spare room recently. Also, the 2 year old male named Buster hates my younger brother, and is pooping in his bedroom!? And I think Tiger the 7 month old female is the one that is pooping in my spare room. What do I do about this? I have been putting the both of them up to the poop and saying NO firmly, but it keeps consistently happening every now and then. Also, poop is hard to clean up, any suggestions? [/b]

There are a couple of things that come to mind - how many litter boxes do you have for them? The recommended number is one for each cat + 1, in different areas of the house.
Are the litter boxes kept clean? Some cats will go elsewhere if the box is dirty. Have you changed brands of litter recently? Are they all spayed/neutered? There are several articles you might read over at http://www.littlebigcat.com that are specific to litterbox issues (look in the free article library). Make sure you are treating the spots where they have gone with an enzyme cleaner (I got the enzyme cleaner I use from my vet). It'll remove all traces of the scent and they'll be less likely to think that THATs where they go. One more thought, have they all been to the vet recently? You mention that the poop is hard to clean up and I'm wondering if it's very liquidy or what? One of the cats could be sick.

Thank you so much for responding, I have been waiting for at least one response hahah.
Ok, I have two litter boxes in the same area of my house. I clean the both of them once every 3 days. All three of the cats are neutered and spaded. I actually put a litter box in the spare room because my kitten Tigger had to get spaded, so after the surgery I put the extra litter box in the room just for her. And then after a week I took it away, do you think thats why they are pooping in there?? They are all up to date with the vet and everything. The poop is normal, but its just hard to get it up off of the carpet. And with my male cat Buster, he is the one that dislikes my brother, and is either pooping or peeing in his room every now and then like maybe 3 times a month. hahah What the heck do I do to get him to stop doing it!!

I just want to second everything Okpunkyo said--especially the enzyme cleaner. Good luck! Now you have TWO answers--one solution, but two answers.

It sounds like you may need to clean the litterboxes more often. You should probably even get another one. You have 3 cats, so you should have 3 or 4 litterboxes. You may be able to get away with just two boxes, but you should try cleaning them out once a day, it may help. Most cats won't use a dirty box. I have one cat and her litterbox gets pretty dirty if I don't clean it at least once a day.

I would absolutely say add at least one - preferably two - more litter boxes, and clean them out daily. That should help solve the problem. And use the enzyme cleaner on every spot they've gone on. You might also consider limiting the cat's access to your brother's room, at least for a few weeks while they get into the swing of using the new litterboxes.
I forgot to welcome you to the cat forum in my first post - Welcome!

Everybody is probably right, I just didn't really want to add anymore ya no, but its probably my best bet. Its better then having to clean poop off of the rugs. Where can I buy that enzyme cleaner?? At a pet store??

I bet you can get something at a pet store - I could only find a spray bottle of enzyme cleaner at a pet store - which is good for some applications. The better stuff is the bottle of liquid that your vet should carry - some pet stores probably carry it as well. I've seen a lot of people asking about, and citing specific brands here on the forum - try a search, you'll be able to find some good info. It'll also take care of the stains...
Litter boxes are not very pretty, for sure. I put one of mine under a small table with a tablecloth. Definitely more attractive!

I would introduce a couple new litter boxes to the picture. put them where the cats are pooping. Just anywhere in the room. Also make sure that your cats are all spayed and neutered...b/c if not this could be about territory.
Ususally the rule is for indoor cats...1 litter box per cat...some cats don't like to share and if the box is too dirty they wont use it!
