"Cat language" is made up largely of "body language" -- postures, movements, expressions, glances, eye, ear & tail position, etc., along with scent markers left where the cat has been. Believe it...the cats are interacting, they're just not doing it in a language that's easy for us to understand!!

There's some good info on how cats interact and communicate in the book "Think Like a Cat" by Pam Johnson-Bennett. I recommend it.

thatnk you, it was just that when i see two sibling cats, they are usually play fighting or mucking around but when it comes to the cats in my area, they don't do anything.

I have two cats that are not siblings and they get along pretty well. The new cat has only been here for 10 days and my cats are now napping together, bathing each other and playing together.

It makes me happy !

Two cats that are part of the same social group but aren't siblings will "play fight" with each other. Perhaps the cats you've seen not interacting just aren't pals.

If there is a lot of screaming, hissing and growling then it is not likely to be play fighting. My guys when they playfight you will sometimes hear some hissing and a scream, but when that happens the attacker usually stops because they know it has gone to far.

Moved to behaviour
