our old cat's swollen stomach and huge weight loss

our 18 year old cat has been showing some alarming symptoms in the last week..... can anybody help?

he hasn't been eating properly for the last few weeks, and this week, has been having a bite or so a day. he has been drinking water though.

his stomach has swollen to a great size and otherwise he is really thin. you can feel his spine. the stomach swelling feels hard, and is very heavy compared to the rest of him.

he doesn't seem like he is in pain, as he's purring. the vet said that it cant be worms if he isnt eating.

we're not sure about his toilet behaviour, but he seems to have been going outside (where he usually goes)

we're thinking it may be a tumour, but it seems strange as this swelling has grown in less than a week.

any help would be great, thanks.

The vet said it can't be worms if he's not eating? I don't know that I agree with that. Obviously this cat needs competent veterinary care and I think you should go to another vet and get a second opinion.

Please keep us posted on how your cat does.
