Hello!
My Molly-Girl has a cold. sigh.. The only symptoms are extreme sneezing ( poor girl) and this morning we've got a runny eye. But no discharge. It's just like water. Should I be worried? I can't afford a visit that'll tell me "she's fine"... but if you guys are worried, then I'll bring her. I read online that a cat cold could last 7-10 days. True? Thanks Sheila & Molly

Colds can last that long, 7-10 days. They usually last that long in people too. I would trap my cat in the bathroom while I took a hot shower, that way the steam would let them breathe for a little while.
I believe cats can only catch colds from other cats. My cat would get a cold from coming from a vet or just after adoption. |

Keep watching her...if she starts being congested or if the eye gets a green or yellow discharge it's time to be concerned. A kitty with a stuffy nose won't eat because it can't smell it's food. So if she stops eating (or reduces the amount significantly), gets lethargic, has a fever etc. it's time to get her in to the vet. If she does seem to be off her food, you can try tempting her with Fancy Feast. You can also warm wet food in the microwave...it gets really pungent when you do that. About 8-10 seconds for room temp food. 12-14 for refrigerated. These times will usually warm it, but not make it hot. Of course it depends on your microwave....
