Default Looking for small kibble cat food

I'm going on vacation and need to leave dry food down for my cats while my son takes care of them. One of my cats has no teeth and I'm looking for a high quality dry food that has a small kibble. Any thoughts?

In the mid 90s I had a cat who had to have all of her molars pulled. She was a fairly young cat, maybe 2yrs old when she had to have her teeth pulled. She lived just fine on Iam's dry food, which at that time was rounded pieces of kibble. Iams has changed their shape and it is a triangle shape.

When feeding young kittens (weaning) and cats with no teeth, besides looking for a good quality product, I also looked for shapes that were small, rounded and had no points or sharp edges so it could be swallowed easily.

For kittens, I feed Eukanuba kitten food, (chicken) because the pieces are very small. For the adults (though Blaze passed away in 2000) I still prefer a rounded shape so it is easy to swallow w/out chewing and am feeding Innova or Evo.

I'm feeding BG (Merrick Before Grains)...small round pieces.

It sounds like your cats aren't used to eating dry, I'd recommend you introduce it a few weeks before and gradually work up to it being the majority of their diet. I'm sure you don't want upset tummies while you're gone.

Yes, you're right. Don't want any sick kitties while I'm gone.

Thanks for the help

Also, whatever you pick, I suggest it be grain free. They tend to be softer and crumble easier than foods with grains (even the good grains).

What happened to your kitty's teeth? I am just curious

I am going to pay attention to this thread. I have been considering switching to a brand with smaller pieces, because Nito doesn't chew his hard food no matter what the size!

He had all his teeth removed because he had a bad case of stomatitis but they did leave his canine teeth intact. He gets along just fine without them. I usually feed him wet food but I can't trust my son to remember to feed him while I'm gone on vacation.

Before Grain has very small kibbles, my cats rarely if ever chewed it.

Other than online, where can you find Merrick Before Grain?
