Default Nutrition for Ragdoll kittens

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about food for Ragdoll kittens?

I know with larger dogs you want to make sure you don't give them a puppy food that makes them grow really fast because it can make growing painful until they are full sized (like their joints don't fit quite right). They take about 2 years to get to full size like Momo.

Is that the same for larger cats like Ragdolls? Since they don't reach their full size until they are two - Should I feed an adult food rather than a kitten food so he grows more slowly?

I've never researched Ragdolls, but I have done Maine Coons and there are no special food requirements. IMO a high quality primarily wet food diet is the way to go. I used all life stages foods for Holly for the first 6 months and then started using a mix of ALS and regular adult food (which is still what I do).

I would suspect the difference between large breed dogs and larger breed cats is that the dogs do reach their adult size in the first year or so and the size difference is dramatic, whereas the cats take longer to reach their size (MCs grow for up to 4 years) and the size difference isn't so dramatic.

Holly grew like an normal cat for her first year then seemed to stop. Then last summer when she turned 2 she had a bit of a growth spurt. She's 3 now and hasn't grown noticeably in a year.

Thanks so much. I give them all a combo diet of dry and wet wellness food - so I guess that'll be good for him too.

4 years?! I guess that's why Kiley suddenly shot up and got bigger than Halifax.
