Hi there
My cat got back from the vet 3 days ago after his dental scaling. He is a 2 year old tabby with FELV. His gums were in pretty bad shape with plague and all. So the vet suggested that he got a dental. When he got back he was too knocked out from the anesthetic to eat or drink. His third eye lids were all showing. The next day he was slightly better. Was able to walk around, drink alittle but still unsteady in his walk. However he is still not eating. Its been 3 days after his procedure and he hardly ate anything. He usually eats raw chicken but the most he ever eat was like a few pieces. I tried Tuna, i minced his food bought him so many different types of cat food but still no luck. It seems that his mouth cavity is still pretty sore. He looks like he has problems chewing and licking. And his thrid eye lid is still partially showing in his left eye. I'm taking him back to the vet in a while for monitoring. His complete lack of appetite is causing me alot of worries. Im kind of regretting bringing him for his dental. He seems in worse shape now. Are there other kinds of food that are really appettizing to cats to help him get more food down? |

Baby food, with meat, and no garlic or onion. Gerber 2nd Foods.
Tuna is good. Nutrical (a gel that's mostly high calories). http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... ps-sellers

What anesthesia was used? The cat should NOT still act sedated the evening after the procedure and still not 100% days later?
Re: the teeth -- were there any extractions? Otherwise, I wouldn't expect THAT to cause a problem either. I would find out about anesthetic used. Should be isoflurane or another one of the quick-acting inhalants plus a pre-anesthetic. |
