Default Wesley ingested a long string (all-ok)

Came back from work on Monday morning, and saw on the floor four small throw-ups that were greenish with a bit of foam and mucous texture. Googled and indicates its bile.

Spoke to vet, and because behavior was fine, was eating, and not throwing up anymore just played it off as an odd event.

Fast forward to today, and I think he was trying to throw up a string.

Looked at his butt, and sure enough there was some string there. From WHAT I have no idea, as I regularly kitty-proof the house since he's a pica monster.

You're not supposed to tug on string in case its looped on the intestines, but I gave it an extremely soft very gentle pull and there was absolutely zero resistance and came right out but was surprisingly long.

Watched him poop later and it was soft and green, not his usual dark firm poops. Acting normal though, so will cross fingers, but yeah just thought that might help someone else.

Oh my, you're lucky! When Fergie ate about 8 inches of braided yarn, it bunched together in the beginning of her intestine and had to be surgically removed..... If Wesley continues to eat and poop and all is well you can relax, but if he starts throwing up a lot or not pooping he may still have some in there.

Sounds like Wesley and Nutmeg should date!! She would do that, I'm surprised she hasn't.

This is slightly off topic, but...
Every time I hear bile mentioned on the internet, it's green. However, I have never seen green bile... from cats or dogs! It's always been yellow or clear (or 'white' if really frothy). The only time I've seen green puke is if they ate something green.
Does yellow bile mean something different? I don't know what the one dog was eating, but my cats eat dry kibble without corn and a couple ounces of canned food every day. The shelter cats have cheap "junk" food with corn as the first ingredient, so I guess I could understand that for yellow bile (because everything else coming out of them is yellow!)

Default Cat proof house re dental floss, string, etc.

My girl has "a thing" for shoelaces. I can't tell you how many she's eaten, yes, found pieces either chucked up or in her poo. We have sticks in sliding doors so that she can't open them. Any sorts of string, thread, ribbon and especially dental floss are something that should be disposed of, or put away securely. Some cats will go through the bathroom waste basket looking for dental floss. Can't be too careful. The alternative is a big $$$$ vet bill if it gets tangled and/or causes an intestinal blockage.

He is definitely eating and pooping, although his poops are still very soft and his tummy is making "squish-squish" sounds.

Similar to when you haven't eaten all day and your tummy grumbles in a high pitch, or like when you put air in your cheek and and squeeze it out through the side of your mouth. Like that.... odd.

I'm hoping its just a left-over upset tummy. Thought we were all clear... hmm....

Good luck--I hope all is okay!

My cat is also orally fixated--he has to chew and eat everything--shoelaces, toys, corners of things. Fortunately, he's passed everything so far! WHEW.

It sounds like you know what to look for and what to do if there's a problem. Let us know when all is well again!

Ugh, vet probably hates me, but its the first time Wesley has not been able to make it to the bathroom in time and made a wet duke in the living room.... when ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

So gave him some probiotic yogurt (plain) and will put some organic pumpkin in his food was the recommendation. Poor guy.

They should make meds string shape like angel hair spaghetti, he'd love it...............
