I agree with Catlady wholeheartedly.

Our cat Magic, she rebounded from 2 strokes, several FLUTD episodes (all between the ages of 15-18 ), hyperthyroidism, and other illnesses. She pulled through like a trooper.

What really gets to me about your story is that your mom *thinks* she knows better.
It doesn't matter for her what would be the BEST for the KITTY, she lets her suffer, all because of her OWN feelings.

People like that should not have pets.

I'm sorry.

I can't really disagree with you there. But its hard to convince her to take a cat to the vet when its dieing when she never even used to take me to the doc when I got sick. it was all home remidies (aka eat turkey soup with veggies) and I'll be just fine. Usually in the end I'd be fine just would take me longer to recover from things then if I had meds. Cept with asthma and it took me almost dieing for her to take me to the doctor. Its always been her way to the highway unfortunately. I will have to tell her cat lady's story it might help a bit.

I know everyone wants you to convince your mom to take your cat to the vet, I want the cat to go to the vet too. But there is only so much you can do short of hopping on a plane and doing it herself. It sounds like you are trying as hard as you can to convince your mom and some people just will not budge. You live in Brazil and she lives in the USA, you can't just take a drive and bring Precious in yourself. I just hope that YOU are okay in all of this and everything works out so Precious is in as little pain as possible.
My mom is the exact same way, and I know how you feel trying to convince her of what's right and she doesn't get it, though I'm sure your mom has the best intentions at heart. Please keep us updated on Precious and I send my well wishes for you, your husband, Oliver, Hana, Precious and your mom during this difficult time.

well, my little sister called me just now. They just got back from putting precious down. She went peacefully without any trouble. my dad was crying on the phone because our dog wouldn't leave the box with the cat in it alone. she keeps laying her head on it as if precious will wake up to play with her any second. they are going to burry her outside in the garden area with rocks over it so animals can't dig her up. I am happy for her to not be in pain but it just...shes actually dead, can't stop crying.

Oh sweetie. I'm so sorry you couldn't be there with your Precious. Her pain is now over, and she'll be sure to be there waiting for you at the Bridge. Run free lovely kitty. *hugs for Oliver*

A photo of precious with her doggie companion dinah. Even after she died dinah still won't stop cuddling the box she is in. My dad is going to burry her in the dog run so dinah can go to the grave too. It will be buried under many layer of rocks though so no other animals can dig it up. I don't have many photos of her that arn't in normal photo form. lots in my physical photo album too. Wish I had a scanner
