Default Weaning Our rescued kittens

Hi friends,

I have searched the forum archives for kitten weaning threads and info, but havent had much luck finding what I need, I do hope this isnt a really common question that Im repeating as a new member, and any help is greatly appreciated. We rescued 5 less than 1 week old kittens 4 weeks ago, took to bottle feeding, have wormed them at 2 weeks old (about to start their second round of worming tonight) Im VERY proud to say that thus far, ALL 5 have done so well, they have gained weight and ate well and are pictures of health We have conferred with a fine vet throughout the process, and done our very best, even though it was the first time we did a rescue of an entire litter this young. We started weaning them last night, and they havent taken to the kitten food very well, what should we do? Our vet said to use moistened dry kitten chow. We have been using warmed skim milk to saturate the food, and let it get paste-like before serving them with it, and introduced the litter box for them. Some do nibble at the food, and one or two have used the box. What can we do to help them along, and are we doing anything wrong? We love them to death, and they have come so far we dont want them to get sick, weak or scared and upset at this point after all our hard work (the kittens work included)

Thanks in advance for any advice, as I said this is our first time with this and we need knowledge from more experienced care givers

Arc
