My girls get wet in the morning and again when I get home from work. I rotate flavors from day to day. Weruva Chicken one day, EVO the next, Weruva Duck the next, and so forth. They also get about 1/8 cup of dry before bed, in part as a treat. Also, in part, because I travel about a day a month on business, and I like the convenience offered by dry food on days when I'm away (whereupon they get half dry and half wet). As for the dry, I tend to stick with the same dry from day to day, although I sometimes rotate from one month to the next.

Yeah, that's another one of the primary reasons I'd like to keep some dry in their diet. I'm home a lot (I usually work from home) and we rarely go out of town, but we're usually gone one night a week to visit my parents/do laundry at their place/see my dog so having some dry food available really helps in those situations or if I'm working out of the house one day and happen to get home late.

Do your cats handle the changes in diet pretty well? When you rotate out the dry once a month, do you rotate in the new food gradually?

When I rotate them to a new dry, I usually give them half old/half new for a few days, and I've never had any issues. As for wet, I can rotate to a new flavor every day with no problem...other than their "finicky-ness"!

I'm making a list of different quality wet foods to pick up next time I go to the pet store. They're going to be so spoiled.

So far I'm thinking of picking up some Wellness adult varieties, and maybe some Blue Buffalo Wilderness? Those of you who've had issues with the Blue Buffalo dry, do you think the wet would cause the same issues? I'm hoping she can still eat grain-free BB wet without issue.

I definitely feel better about this idea than trying to find one single brand, if they're willing to eat different things. Then I don't have to be so paranoid about too much or not enough of something being in one kind of food.

Update on Athena's tummy troubles: she's been on the new diet (rotating varieties of grain free wet in the mornings and a little grain-free Core dry in the evenings) completely for a full week now, and she's doing fantastic. Her coat looks better, she no longer looks bloated, her energy levels seem higher, and she's finally producing solid stools!

She's been through quite an ordeal this week, with her neck scrape and everything, so I am just thrilled to see such a positive change in her! The scrape is looking much better too. She's been cone-free for several days and it's healing nicely.

That's wonderful news...both on the tummy front and the cone/wound front!

My cat Misty has the same issue as she has a very sensitive stomach and throws up food and I tried her on all types of holistic foods like Wellness and now I have had her on a new Oven-Baked product called "Oven-Baked Tradition Natural & Holistic indoor cat Fish Adult cat food and she's doing great on it. She did throw up 3 times to begin with and the vet told me that a cat can throw up once a week which is okay. I told her that I was giving Misty a treat called Greenies and she said to try her off of those for a bit and then go back and see if the treats are making her sick. She has been on this food for a month now and no treats for 5 days so far and no throwing up.

There is a website for this food and its made in Canada. There's even a measuring cup in the bag which is so helpful for me.

Meow,
Anne

Yeah, I had some trouble with my dog and Greenies. He started throwing them up too, so I've never given them to my cats.

So far the new diet I have her on seems to be working great though! Her stools look perfect, her stomach looks less bulbous/bloated, and she's not been gassy in about two weeks! I guess she just had trouble digesting grain.

Currently I have her on rotating canned flavors of Merrik, Wellness, and Blue Buffalo (all the grain-free varieties of course), and a little Wellness Core dry and that seems to be working just fine.
