Fergie is working on getting rid of a UTI right now, and she's on Clavamox. She's been on this before with no problems, and I'm not sure if that's the problem now. She is throwing up her wet food regularly but not her dry food, which makes no sense to me. She gets the medicine after she eats, and we've been waiting a bit to give it to her since she has been throwing up the wet the last few days. However, we have NOT seen her throw up the dry! I don't get it!
Any thoughts? When she was at the vet for the UTI they did bloodwork, an ultrasound, an X-ray and a urinalysis and found nothing other than the UTI. Her food hasn't changed - wet is Evo beef or Wellness beef & chicken, dry is a mix of Evo and Blue Buffalo.

Could the clavamox be upsetting her tummy this time and the canned touches too much of her stomach surface and triggers a vomit reflex while the odd shapes of the dry allow for less stomach surface to be in contact and not trigger the vomit reflex?
I'm sorry, other than that, I've got no ideas.

Hmm, it's something I hadn't thought of but it sounds possible to me. It's really driving me nuts! The vet was open late last night so we were able to get some different medicine, in pill form this time. We didn't even try the wet food this morning, just gave a small portion of dry. She threw up a little of it but not all, thankfully. And by switching from liquid meds to pill, I caught her off guard and got her medicated a lot easier today! I don't remember what the new medicine is but I'm hoping hubby will call me this evening and tell me she ate heartily rather than picking at her food. The Clavamox should be out of her system by this evening I would think.

I hope she feels better soon. I remember being told that even if we/they vomit, usually not everything comes up so we/they at least get a little bit of nutritional intake.

She's much better now - it's been so difficult to give her the pill that she actually didn't get her antibiotics at all yesterday, and today she is bouncing off the walls and eating heartily with no problems. She's also peeing great, back to standing in the box and nearly managing to pee over the side of a 14 inch tall tub
After reading that many UTI's are not really bacterial and just inflammations, we've decided to skip the meds for now and watch her very closely in the litter box. When they had inflammations last year I gave them slippery elm in their food regularly for a while and that did the trick, so I will start doing that for a few days to help her out.
