Default Ew! Cat pee-d on the carpet.

This morning Misa pee-ed on the carpet near the bathroom. So I cleaned it up with the febreze. When I came home from school this afternoon, she did it again.. Yuck! I don't know whats wrong with her, but she did use her litter box today though. I cleaned it out yesterday and she still did it.. This only happened today.

Did anyone had this experience? Yes she's spayed and supposely litter boxed trained.

Take her to the vet and make sure she doesn't have a urinary tract infection or crystals.

Misa is saying "Hello, I'm trying to tell you something." She needs a vet visit if this is totally out of character.

It could be, but it could also be that she's starting a urinary tract infection/crystals and hurting too.

Instead of trying to second guess what might have caused Misa to pee on the carpet, take her to the vet to rule out a UTI and/or crystals. As for cleaning up where she peed, Febreeze won't work. You need Nature's Miracle or some other enzymatic cleaner. NM breaks down the proteins that are in cat urine, so not only does it get rid of the urine, it also gets rid of the smell. That's more than likely the reason why Misa peed in that same spot again...because she could still smell it, though you couldn't.

rule out health problem before treating as behaviorial. I am going through this with a cat - had bloodwork done and that's fine. Had vet get a true sample of urine via a needle in her bladder and that's fine. So now I know it's behaviorial.
She does it a lot and always right beside the litterbox. I have 5 litterboxes but she always goes beside one particular box.
I think she does it more when I have fosters.
With Dixie I KNOW it's behaviorial....and that's tougher to stop. Hate to say hope your cat has a health problem but if so it's easier to treat and end it.
Vinegar works well too to eliminate (not cover up) the pee smell

I agree with all of the above. Reading my daughter's cat books I am learning a lot

Her books says 80% of cats who have accidents on the floor have medical issues ~ most common is an UTI. I would take her to a vet to get that checked out. It could be a very simple and cheap solution (cheap VS buying and cleaning her messes up for the next year or so)

Second, since it was a bathroom rug, put it in the washer on a long soak cycle and hot water, extra rinse cycle won't hurt either. I would suggest using the largest load setting as well so the hot water can really work its way through it.

Some say nature's miracle but I never had any luck with it while house breaking my puppy. I do know people who swear by it though.
Whatever you use, you need to clean the floor that was under the rug as well as the rug.

If she comes back as not having a UTI, you might need to restrict her movements when your not at home for a little while. A bathroom (minus bathroom rugs hehe) would work best.

Yes, but as everyone said take her to the vet first and rule out a UTI. If that's what wrong she is suffering and it's cruel to make her wait.
