Toby had an operation yesterday to remove the mass in his mouth. We will know in the next week or so exactly what that mass was, but the vet does think its most likely to be oral squamous cell carcinoma.
He is already feeling so much better without having that nasty thing in his mouth. They removed some nasty looking teeth as well. Ate his tea last night and brekkie this morning just as a catpig should and is very affectionate at the moment, purring and wanting love all the time. There are other things it could be - a less aggressive form of cancer, a benign tumour or indeed just infectious tissue. I guess its just wait and see. In the meantime, I'm just going to enjoy him as he is right now as I don't know how long it will last (the prognosis with oral squamous cell carcinoma is dire wth most cats dying within 1-3 months) Took a photo of him this morning

So glad to hear he's feeling better after the operation. Sweet little Tobe, snarfing up food and being lovable like usual.
When will you get the results of the biopsy?

We are all hoping for a benign outcome to this. It could very well be.
My big orange and white guy Tuffy sends purrs to handsome Toby. Quite a resemblance, don't you think? The fact that he's eating and acting like his usual self is wonderful. Last edited by Greenport ferals; 02-02-2012 at 11:27 PM. |
