Default New undercoat overnight?!

Along his spine and around his head is smooth and sleek but on his sides and culottes MowMow seems to have masses of undercoat. I've been brushing him every day for over a week now and it's still coming out in GOBS. I brush until the brush gets clogged then clean it and repeat. I do this until there's little to no hair going into the brush and then I turn him lose.

The next day there's just as much hair. I pulled it all out of the trash (bedroom can) and looked at it and I swear there's enough there to make him 3 times over....do they grow this junk overnight? His coat is super shiny, eyes bright, he's hydrated and super healthy. He had a vet visit two weeks ago and the vet didn't just say he was healthy he GUSHED about it and took photos of MowMow for his bulletin board under "Success stories".

I'm using a boar bristle brush (used to be mine). I love how it seems to tidy and shine the overcoat and digs into the undercoat to strip it.

Is this normal? I can't imagine that he'd grow an entire undercoat overnight but I swear he has too. He's got a medium length coat but I can't see where he's storing this much hair! He's never shed this much before but he's never had a very good coat until now due to all his allergies and food trials....

I've been using a comb on Pedro with his mad fur growing skills. I also easily get similar amounts in a day and I found after switching from a brush to a comb I started getting more of his undercoat than I was with the brush. Of course now he's stubbornly shedding more undercoat to compensate I think. LOL

Pedro is also a medium length coat and has ripply (not quite curly) fur.

Glad to hear someone else spends as much time brushing their kitty as I do. I often get teased that he gets a bit too much spa time.

It sure does seem that way. If I brush Tina 3 times a day, I'll wake up to a bed covered in hair. She just won't quit shedding.

It actually seems to be a tiny bit better since I switched her food but it's not massive improvement.
