Default Feeding Canned Food Cold

I typically heat my cats' food in the microwave for 8 seconds if it has been stored in the fridge. Mimi (new cat) went right to town on it cold before I could put it in the microwave. Is it BAD for them to eat it cold? I've read posts about warming it up first and it seems that most people do that but if she will eat it cold, I'd rather avoid the microwave (for obvious reasons).

Thanks.

Yoshi eats his cold, too. I prefer to avoid the microwave.

I hear most cats won't eat canned food that's out of the fridge but my cats do and I don't mind. Less work for me

Seems like Cody needs his raw food to be at least room temp tho.

If MowMow is REALLY hungry or just begging for a snack he gets it straight out of the fridge. His regular meals I warm up with very hot water mixed with the food.

I used to warm Missy's food in the microwave (6 seconds), but she started rejecting it. She prefers it cold rather than microwaved and she's seemingly quite healthy. She gets her daily sardine unwarmed, too. Why should cold be bad for cats?

I use a little hot water instead of the microwave.

I think from what I read, many cats won't take to cold food because it doesn't smell as strongly as cold food, and since they use their sense of smell to identify something, they might not recognize cold food as food. My kitties don't seem to have that problem though.

Thanks everyone! I didn't THINK there was anything wrong with it from a health perspective, but wanted to check. Neither of them seem to mind it cold.

i use to heat up Cricket's food, but now i only do if she has a cold or isn't feeling too well (like after her shots) otherwise she chows down on it at room temp.
