Default Oliver Has Gingivitis

Well we took oliver to get his yearly shots and a check up. and the vet says he has gingivitis. she says its in stage 2? but she also said that the treatment is to hard to make him go through it now. so as long as he keeps eating food and drinking water not to worry about it....this kind of bothers me? is this normal? is it no big deal?

It can lead to periodontal disease. A cat I adopted from the SPCA had that and would have needed anesthesia for treatment (which is why they said they didn't do it because she's old.

Somebody on this forum mentioned a substance she rubbed on her cats gums that kept this under control. Brushing teeth with particular emphasis on the gums (as recommended for humans) may help if Oliver will permit it. Bacteria from Gingivitis in people can harm the heart. Many long years ago the doctors pulled all my fathers teeth because of heart disease. (Pre WW2)

Feeding some dry foods may help massage the gums, but this is disputed.
