Default Transition to big boy food?

When should I start my 6 month old Rockin' Robin on adult cat food? He's kinda finicky-doesn't seem to like his kitten food anymore. I let him try a can of Friskies-it disappeared in MINUTES! He also has a yen for Smokey's food-Dad's kibble. He certainly needs fuel-he's a very active cat!

A kitten is still a kitten until it hits one year of age. I'd keep him on it until at least then.

I just asked my vet this same question. My kitten just turned 7 months. The vet said he has to stay on kitten food until one year.

There are cat foods made for a cats entire life, from kitten to senior. My kitten never tolerated these foods. I have always wondered about these foods because a kittens nutritional requirements are not the same as an adult or senior cat.

Update:I give Robin CANNED kitten food now,and that's made all the difference. I might as well pitch the kitten-kibble. He WON'T TOUCH IT.

Instead of pitching it you could take it to a local shelter. The would be very happy to have it.

Glad Robin is doing so good!
