Before I continue - he is going to the vet today, (I hope to God..) if they have an opening with their van pick up. (I am the worst pet owner - I don't have access to a car right now..)
So, he still isn't eating. I thought for sure he was just bored with his kibble and maybe had a bit of a tummy ache that was preventing him from eating. He's ACTING hungry, but he takes one sniff at his food and he just looks up at me with sad eyes and walks away. I had an emergency stash of canned food that I forgot I had, so I thought for sure giving him a can would change everything. He basically licked up the liquid from the can and didn't eat more than 2-3 little nuggets of wet food. About an hour later, he threw up what looked like half of his weight.. I broke down and started crying hysterically at this point. He threw up 3 times yesterday - twice was a yellow liquid, the last time was mostly a frothy mixture of the very small amount of wet food he ate, and a bunch of clear liquid. I hate to be so graphic, but it honestly looked like oatmeal. Same consistency. Since he hasn't been eating, I don't understand how he vomited up so much. He hasn't thrown up since, thankfully. He woke me up this AM at 5, kneading on my stomach and purring. I got up, checked my floors for signs of vomit, finding none. I decided to try to give him a little more wet food, which he didn't even look at. He's been drinking water and has no problems peeing. He did however, have some terrible diarrhea this AM. The ONLY thing I can get him to eat are tuna flavored treats. Out of the several different types I tried to give him, those tuna ones are the only one's he's eaten. He hasnt thrown up after eating them, but I think they may have caused his diarrhea. I called the vet yesterday to do a quick over the phone consult, and they basically told me to bring him in ASAP. They're thinking blockage, bad tooth, or something to that effect. Blockage would be my first guess, as since I've had him, he has eaten a few strands of carpet and my bathmat.. (I always try to get to him before they get down his throat but he's really quick.) The thing is, I've completely removed my bathmat from the equation, only having it out while I'm in the shower and he typically just lays on it while I'm in there. I know he's eaten a couple pieces of thin cardboard from his scratchers, which I typically pick up or vacuum the second he's finished scratching. He plays *IN* plastic grocery bags, but only when I'm watching him and I've never seen him even chewing on one, so I don't believe that to be part of the issue. He did sleep the majority of yesterday, with about an hour where he was awake and wanting to play. I have literally been a complete and total sobbing mess. The vet doesn't open until 7:30 and I've left 2 messages with them. Apollo has pretty much been acting like his usual self, just with less energy and spunk. I feel absolutely terrible. I guess I'll update when I hear something... |

Take a deep breath. You're doing right by him. He's going to the vet and then you'll know for sure, but you have to be calm as hard as it is to not freak out. He'll freak out if you do, and you can't make decisions without a clear head. Let us know what happened.

HI Shenanigans
Glad you are going to see the vet today, while you are out(and you can ask your vet this to) you could pick up some Pepcid A/C (or the generaic brand) and give him 1/2 tablet twice aday and in a few days cut it back to 1/4 tablet it will help with an upset tummy |

*Deeeeeep breath*
Oookay... So, he is en route to the vet. The lady that came was very sweet, we both had a huge issue getting him into the crate, but what cat really WANTS to go into a crate for someone he's never met that smells like other doggies and kitties? I broke out in tears, per typical. She assured me they'll take great care of him and they will update me as soon as the vet sees him. I hope to God that it's nothing bad.. My poor baby boy I plan on sanitizing my entire apartment while he is gone, however long it may be - I guess I will find out once they take a look at him. I cleaned up and sanitized everywhere he vomited, but my apartment still smells like sickly cat. Speaking of sanitizing - Pest Control for my apartment building came the day before yesterday without calling or any sort of warning. He just walked right in. I held Apollo the whole time he was spraying, and as I was YELLING at this man to watch where he was spraying his chemicals, he ignored me. He sprayed Apollo's favorite water bottle flat, a couple boxes that he plays in, and his friggin BRAND NEW CAT SCRATCHING POST. He actually went into the kitchen and started like he was going to spray where I keep Apollo's food and I physically had to stop him and make him leave my apartment. I locked Apollo in my room (which he did not spray) until everything was dry and I threw everything he sprayed away. My cat's already sick and he was trying to kill him. SO MAD. Going to take this time to thoroughly clean everywhere he sprayed.. Fricken jerk. Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.. Sigh :/ |
