Default Food recommendations - newly diagnosed early stages of renal failure

Hey folks,

I've done some searching here and we tried wading through Tanya's list, but I thought someone here might have a quick answer. A friend's new kitty (kitty is about 4-6 yrs old) was diagnosed this morning with very early stage renal failure. Poor kitty has a very sad history so I'm so happy she was rescued by this friend who will be quite diligent in her health and care.

Her other kitty (about 18 months old) has issues with bladder infections so they both are already on a grain free diet via Wellness canned supplemented daily with PetKelp Skin formula (Omega 3 & Flaxseed) and then made into a soup. Her boy hasn't had any bladder issues since this change in diet in June! Yay!

From a search here it seems Wellness Chicken & Turkey as well as Wellness Chicken & Beef are relatively low phosphorus for a grain free food. Am I right? And while wading through the info on Tanya's site I probably missed it, but under what approx what level of phosphorus should she be looking for in the food? Any other food suggestions?

Are there any other no no's or must-do's that in the immediate future she can easily look out for while we wade through the information?

Thanks!
