Chica suffers from feline herpes that manifest themselves as prolonged URI's. Here are some things you can consider...

Add a humidifier. It helps Chica tremendously. You may also consider nebulization. Chica gets nebulized with saline every so often and it seems to also help a lot.

L-Lysine Treats (enisyl) to encourage the picky eater. Chica can't smell well when she's sick but she'll still eat these happily.

Nasal/sinus flush. We have done many of these for chronic URI cats at my clinic, and I have seen success here.

I don't have a lot of time to post today so I just wanted to throw out a few suggestions.

A humidifier sounds like a good idea...I'll be picking one up today. It'll probably help my asthma too! It makes sense since winter is when she gets worse and our winters are so dry here.

I have the lysine treats...she hates them. I bought some canned grainfree wet food to mix the lysine with, hopefully that will keep working.

I'm very curious about the nasal flush and the nebulizer. Those are both vet treatments, right? If you've seen it work then I would definitly like more info to take to my vet.

I will try to get you some more information about it this weekend. But yes, it is something that would be done at the vet under anesthesia.

Thanks for the suggestions Rachel!

I got a humidifier yesterday and its been running on full all night. I think I'll be able to tell if it's helping pretty soon, right?

In other good news her appetite is back full force, lol. She tried to sneak some oft fries from dinner last night, and she ate her food again too. Yay!
