Gillykat, Loxicom IS meloxicam.........the only difference is that it uses a different preservative, Sodium Benzoate, instead of the natural honey in Metacam. Sodium Benzoate has long been recognized as a carcinogen.
Loxicom 0.5mg/ml Oral Suspension For Cats - Norbrook Laboratories - Veterinary, Equine, Farm Animal and Pet Products Same difference? ...or potentially, worse again. Interestingly, here is what NOAH "knows" about Loxicom: Quote:

Hi,
Thanks for your post Gillykat,I'm glad to hear Lily's now doing well. Sharkie has been off the Metacam for over a week now, he doesn't have any pain relief at all. The vet said I could try stopping it and see how he gets on, well I did and he's never shown any indications of being in pain. He's still an alert, bright and active 5 month old kitty (even in his cage). When he comes out for a walk he uses it well, he does limp but he uses the leg and doesn't avoid putting pressure on it. He has an apppointment with the ortho vet on Wednesday who did the operation for a 4 week check up. I think he will just be checking on the pin tracts, but guess I'll find out more when I go. Can you remember if Lily had any discharge from her pin tracts? If so what was it like. Sharkie does but the vet said it was because he was so active, and a clear discharge was nothing to worry about. |
