Hello, I am the mother of Tom cat and grandmother to Princess. I came here looking for answers about cat care. The biggest reason I joined is to look for information on how to get through putting a cat down. My beloved Princess is sick, she is 15 and a half and weighs only 5 pounds. I'm very sad and upset even though I knew the day would come. She has been a constant source of comfort and now I need to be strong for her. Wednesday afternoon it will be just the two of us at the vet as my daughter lives in NY and says she cannot make it. I shouldn't be upset with her but I am, Princess was originally her cat that I got for her when she was in third grade. Tom is not a cuddly cat like Princess. The apartment will seem so empty without her. No more cuddling in bed with her at night and in the morning. Tom does not cuddle.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, but it really is the kindest thing to do. That's the heartbreaking reality of living with pets, we know in our minds that they'll most likely go before us, but our hearts are in denial.
Tom may change after Princess is gone because the dynamics will change.
