how to give pills

Poor Tessie has an upset stomache, I went to the vet and they gave me 2 different pills and a planned diet (wet and dry). They told me to either put the pills in the pill pockets or crush them up and put it in a seringe. Of course Tessie doesnt like the pills pockets and the poor kitty is foaming at the mouth after I gave her the meds using the seringe. I really do not want to do that anymore if possible.
What tricks do you use to give your cats there meds? She is VERY picky...

Another option: With some cats I would take a larger opening syringe and put the crushed pill or liquid in the syringe first then syringe up a bit of baby food meat into the syringe to help with the taste of the pill.

Or ask your vet if you can have the med made at a compounding pharmacy. They do make some that you can rub the med in the ear to be absorbed.

Whenever I've had to give pills I've always used one of those little long pill popper things.... Yea they don't like it but they don't mind it to much. Your vet should be able to give you one... You just open their mouth and shoot it in...

I've always used the method of opening the mouth and gently sliding the pill to the back of the throat. Depending the cat sometimes I will rub the throat some to make sure the pill is swallowed.
