The title is self explanatory, but what is the oldest cat you've had or known. My aunt's two cats lived to be 23 and 25 years old. My husband had two cats when we met that passed away when they were 19 years old.

What a blessing it would be for me to have any one of my cats live that long! I adopt old cats and because they are old when I get them, I normally don't have them long. Our Sam was 12 when we adopted him and lived to be 16 1/2. I WISH I had another few - heck, more than a few, years with him!

We had an indoor/outdoor cat who lived to 23. When we adopted her as a kitten, I was 12 years old. When she died, my daughter was 12! The cat's name was Tiffany, Tiffy for short, and she was a DLH.

This thread made me curious what the oldest cat on record was so I checked with Guinness.
The cat in name, Creme Puff, lived to be 38 years and 3 days. HOLY SMOKES!! Oldest cat ever

The cats I grew up with, Roxie and Blue, both died when they were 12. After Roxie died, they recalled the food she had been eating...too late to do anything to save her. Blue died the next year...I think he died of a broken heart, he was never the same after Roxie died.

Trixie was the oldest for me. We know she was at least 20 but we reckon it was more likely to be about 24. She was still really agile but developed a tumour after a tooth extraction and eventually she was put to sleep - at home in my arms - when it stopped her eating and drinking.
