I just realized that the food I been using is recalled. My cats been experiencing some of the symptoms that were mentioned. This worries me very much. Please check the FDA recalls to make sure the one your using isn't on there. It just been updated lately.
Now that knowing that the food I been using is recalled I don't know what kind I should get now. There is a lot on that list. Does anyone have suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

I don't know of any current cat food recalls...and I own a pet food store so I'm pretty in tune with that stuff. What brand are you talking about and please provide a link to the webpage you're talking about.

Yeah, I haven't heard of any dog/cat recalls since the Diamond stuff in April/May last year. I work at a pet store as well and we are very current not that stuff as well. Which food are/were you feeding?
Oh, Beneful? Yeah, that's nothing new... |

Thanks for the link, we have some of that food sitting around. A family member bought some when we were out of Origen to hold the dogs over until we got to a pet store (downgrade much? haha) so now I can throw it out without anyone protesting... it wasn't like the dogs were eating it anyway.

Not that I'm a fan of Purina/Beneful...heck that stuff could make a dog sick even if it's not tainted. But that article is just full of anecdotal info, no real substance behind it. I put very little faith in information that people provide about their ill animals unless I'm able to question them myself. I constantly get customers coming in and blaming the food and then when I dig a little further and they think about it they realize it was probably that dead squirrel in the yard that the dog was playing with. Or maybe the pizza their husband shared with the dog. I have one customer who has a never ending cycle of buying large quantities of canned cat food, feeding a few cans...her cats throw it up and she returns it saying it must be a bad batch. I finally told her yesterday that the 10 different foods she bought over the last few week all can't be bad (Based on all the things she's said I think I have a pretty good idea why the cats are puking and it's not the food...it's her stressing them out).
So yes, I think the reports warrant investigation, but they also can't be taken at face value.
