I used to use this stuff called Petromalt, it's a sticky brown paste that smells like molasses. I'd put a finger-full on the roof of the cat's mouth, or simply apply it to the paws so they can lick it off. Vaseline will do the trick as well, in fact I think petrolatum is the main ingredient in Petromalt.
Happily, none of my current cats have hairball problems, so I haven't had to use any hairball remedies for a long time. |
