I've just used this carb calculator for a food that makes the claim of zero carbs. (Tiki Cat) According to the Tiki website this food has zero carbs and 136 calories per can (22.67 calories per ounce rounded up)

According to the calculator this Tiki formula has 1.5 % carbs (NOT converted to DMB) and 20 calories per ounce.

This is what I mean by the Guaranteed Analysis telling us basically nothing. I used the GA from the website to make the calculation, and it does not match what the website is telling us.

Never heard of them before this thread. As I said, I don't trust any of them, including the brands I use. Profit is the main focus, regardless of what the website says. Potatoes are cheap and that's why they use them.

I'll be glad if the info given me matches what our calculations have shown here. But I reiterate, these calculations are based on numbers that basically have no meaning.

The brand I currently feed told me their foods are 1% carbs, which converts to a DMB of 4.5%. Using this calculator and the GA off the can of food I am feeding, the carbs actually come out to 11% DMB.

So what is the truth? We may never know.

The plot thickens. Using the GA information they gave me personally (not from the can), the carb content (using that calculator) comes out to .05% (2% DMB) but the CALORIES per ounce on the calculation match up with the information I was given personally.

It's enough to make one run screaming for the hills, LOL

Personally I think the fact that they disclosed the percentage of protein from the potatoes is more honest than the vast majority of pet food companies. In fact this is the first time I've seen it stated that explicitly. I give them credit for that.

You could be right doodlebug. I tend to be deeply cynical when it comes to any pet food manufacturer's motives. Not that anyone would notice.

No this is awesome stuff! Not making my head hurt at all! I am also one to be very cynical about food, however this company I do like alot, as long as I keep in mind that ALL pet food companies are out to make money. I'm off to tey the calculators now

Oliver (hearing Irish Terrier X),
Mouse (deaf and vi Mini Dachshund),
Boo (deaf and vi Mini Dachshund),
