Food from WalMart

Since my local PetCo is awful, nasty, bad overpriced and has sorry inventory, can anyone recommend a good canned or pouch cat food for little ones?

They are 8 weeks old today and growing like weeds in Sumer time!

My girlfriend boght them a bag of dried "Special Kitty" foor that they don't really like. I'm going to switch them to all canned- pouched food and feed them some red meats as well.

I hate WalMart but they're the only decently stocked store in town (SuperCenter)......

Oh...we have a Sam's Club as well if that's better......

I don't think you're going to find anything that's any good at Wal-Mart. At least I can't at my Wal-Mart (it's not a giant supercenter though...)

If you have a PetCo in your area I can only assume that you probably have smaller, independant pet stores around as well. They'll probably have the variety you're looking for -- and at good prices.

I feed my cats Nutro Pouches which you can find for 49 cents a piece.

Our kitties eat the special kitty. It's cheap, and with so many cats that's good!

I don't have the ingredients on hand, but I remember looking at them at the store and Special Kitty is a horrible brand.

nah. my cats prefer Special Kitty over any other brand i have ever bought them. i tried spending massive amounts of money on "special food" like chicken soup for cat lovers, etc..., but they mostly turn their noses up at it. The Special Kitty however, they are crazy about. All 3 are healthy, beefy, beautiful males.

I vaguely remember looking at the Special Kitty ingredients, and it is crap. Junk food at best, which I'm sure a lot of cats may like, but not healthy. I *think* Walmart also carries Iams, it's not great, but it's healthier.

Surprisingly enough, the ingredients list from the Kirkland brand of pet foods (Costco brand) was pretty good. Maybe Sam's Club has a similar self-branded product?

I was feeding my cat Purina Cat food from Wal-Mart, its not the best but little better than Speical Kitty. I am now feeding my cat Science Diet from Pet Warehouse. Im sure you can get it at Petco. Its a little pricey but she loves it. And Wal-Mart does carry IAMS.

Science Diet and Purina pet food are probably two of the worst foods on the market. They both have by-products and TONS of corn fillers. Not to mention that Science Diet has BHA/BHT, which have been know to cause cancer Vets get PAID to tell people to feed it...they actually know very very little on animal nutrition. Plus, for the prices of them, you can get a much better food for your cat.

Iams is bad too. It has by-products and they do horrible animal feeding tests. www.iamscruelty.com

Some high-quality foods are:

Natural Balance(sold at PetCo!!!)
BLUE(sold at PetSmart!!!)
Felidae
Wellness
California Natural
Innova
Nutro(only the canned though)

Take Care,
Abhay

PLEASE SPAY/NEUTER YOUR PET

Spittles:

Thanks for posting that little foods list...

I don't want to support any company that hurts / tests on animals.

I'm an animal lover, except for snakes and stinking skunks!

Time for me to start reading the cat food labels real heavily.
