hmm...sounds like I may invest in a water fountain and get rid of the automatic waterer. They look really cool too!

Thanks for the advice. Abbey is still not drinking as much as I think she should, but then I have not had cats before. She does eat her wet food like she's starving and she is putting on weight already and also has gotten really playful.

Cats will drink somewhat less water when they eat wet food, because they're getting most of their moisture from their food (which is what they're biologically designed to do). I would be VERY concerned if she was eating dry food and didn't have water available, but with wet food, it doesn't worry me quite so much.

However, it's still a nice thing to have water available at all times. I keep water out for Assumpta even though she seldom drinks it anymore. I've never tried one of these Buddy Bowls, so I can't vouch for their usefulness:

Lots of cats don't like bowls that are deep or narrow around the top, but it may be worth a try if the choice is that or kitty not having water that you think she should have.
