There are a few people on this forum that DO feed raw, i hope they catch this and are able to help you out. I'm clueless when it comes to raw foods. I do know though that Dr. Jean has pointed out a few times that when you are supplementing a cats raw diet they only need a few things. Some levels of certain supplements can be toxic, so you'll need to find out exactly what they do need and exactly what they don't need so you don't give them something they don't need or that could be potentially toxic.

I'm sure the product is good, but the stuff that's in it can easily be added by oneself and that's probably cheaper than buying Instincts TC.
It's probably good when one is a newbie, but with time one learns how to balance the diet without many supplements at all. I started out by supplementing with wheat germ oil (vitamin A, D and E), fish oil, calcium and vitamin B-complex. Today I only supplement with fish oil or flax seed oil once or twice a week. A well balanced diet containg meat, bones, organs and veggies doesn't need supplementing. If you read the recipe at http://www.catfood.catnutrition.org/CatFoodRecipe.pdf you'll se that it contains everything that Instincts TC contains (not strange since they've had FelinFuture as a "model" when making the recipe) so I would recommend using that recipe instead of buyinf Instincts TC since I thinl it'll be cheaper adding everything by oneself. |

I like the TC Instincts; it's a good product. It's intended to be added to raw meat to make it a complete meal.
If you are converting to raw from Science Diet, do it slowly. The detox will not be pretty! Here's my starter recipe for cat food: http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?a ... w&item=014 You can make something similar yourself, I'm not sure it would be cheaper though. This is a great product if you are lazy (like me!) and want a one-step simple dimple process! Cheers, Dr. Jean |
